Ellis Lake

Ellis Lake with view of Ellis Peak ridge

Photo Album

A hike in a new area for NevadaRambler, from Barker Pass to Ellis Peak and Ellis Lake via the Ellis Peak Trail, then a loop on forest roads to North Miller Creek, Bear Lake, and Cothrin Cove, returning on a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail to Barker Pass. It’s a nice easy hike to the lake and peak, though rather steep in the first and last sections. Great views of Desolation Wilderness and Lake Tahoe. Ellis Lake would be a great place for a backpacking overnight, but it’s accessible by 4WD roads, so might be popular.

Ellis Peak is on the Tahoe OGUL peak list.
