After mostly recovering from my lingering cold and having explored the trailhead last week, we decided to return to Hunter Creek Canyon despite the iffy weather. We hiked all the way to the waterfall, but encountered deep snow on the upper portion of the trail. It’s not high elevation, but the canyon is deep and sheltered from the sun. It snowed lightly for a while, but the sun came out later. Thanks to the weather, no one else was on the trail, which is rare for this popular trail close to Reno.
