Mt. Elwell (7818 ft) in the Lakes Basin Recreation Area near Graeagle, California.  A very nice, moderate difficulty loop trail starts from the Smith Lake trailhead near the Gray Eagle Lodge off of the Gold Lake Hwy. The rocky summit can be reached from the trail via a scramble along a ducked path. Past the summit, the trail descends to the shore of Long Lake.  This is probably one of the easier hikes on the Tahoe OGUL Peak List. The day was mixed clouds and sun, windy and cold at the summit.
