Made the snowshoe trip to Fisher Lake via Matrimony Ridge on the second try. With the heavy snow pack and spring conditions, it was a relatively easy cross-country snowshoe route. There was 1-3″ of new snow on the frozen snowpack. Used Khatoola Microspikes up to Matrimony Ridge, then 18″ MSR Lightning Ascents. Followed the blue diamond trail most of the way to Matrimony Ridge (a separate GPS route showing the marked route is below), then headed to the high point above Fisher Lake. Chose a descent from a saddle point to the north of the lake (steep but okay when snow conditions are safe). During the summer, there would be several possible descent routes, all more or less a scramble. A forested area above the shore on the north side of the lake looks like a promising camping spot, but it’s hard to tell what the surface is like under the snow.
