Hike to Hobart Reservoir in the Carson Range east of Lake Tahoe from Lakeview in Washoe Valley.  Hobart Reservoir is in the Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park.

The first part of the hike follows the Virginia City Siphon, which transfer water for Hobart Reservoir at 7600 ft through a siphon pipe down to Washoe Valley at 5200 ft, then back up over the Virginia Range at 6800 ft and on to Virginia City. The siphon was originally built in the Comstock mining era, but still supplies the municipal water for Virginia City.
