I managed to get up at 2 a.m. to view the lunar eclipse, and I’m glad I did. It was spectacular. The photos weren’t so spectacular, but a few came out okay.

The Great Reno Balloon Race is held every year the week after Labor day. This morning the balloons passed over my neighborhood, including one landing just up the street.

A brush fire on Peavine Peak started on Friday 8/11/2006 in Verdi and burned 10 square miles of open land. This panorama (click on the photo to enlarge) was taken on the morning of 8/12/2006 from I-80 west of Reno, as Michael and I were escaping to the mountains. The fire was mostly contained by Sunday.

On business at a conference at Wintergreen Resort in the Blue Ridge Mountains near the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. The drive down (up?) from DC was rather hectic, my flight arrived at rush hour and it was dark by the time I got here. Luxurious accommodations at the off-season rate, in exchange for the hot humid weather. Busy schedule ahead.
