Brainard Lake
Went snowshoeing with my nephew and his friend to the Brainard Lake area near Ward, Colorado. There was a cold howling wind out in the open (common theme in the Colorado high country, it seems), but it was okay in the woods. Very popular area, with separate trails for snowshoers and cross-country skiers.

Loch Vale, Rocky Mountain National Park
Solo snowshoe hike in Rocky Mountain National Park from the Glacier Gorge trailhead below Bear Lake. It was a cold windy day, okay in the woods but didn’t spend much time in the howling wind at Loch Vale, the destination lake pictured above. Georgeous area, very popular trail. The trail was well packed, so I wore my microspikes most of the way in and didn’t put on snowshoes until the final steep climb to Loch Vale up a snowed-in waterfall
